Born in Montreal, Nick Patterson was raised in a bilingual environment where English and French were merged into one language. While his debuts were made as a leading member of numerous punk bands, he drifted away from the punk scene and grew into a more in-depth, personal approach with his music and songwriting style.
The artist has since shared stages with Shawn Phillips, Lewis Watson, Bobby Bazini, Kim Churchill and many more. Hard work, time and perseverance have all provided Nick with grand opportunities such as touring across Europe a few times over, as well as playing at more than 150 shows across Canada & the United States.
Early 2017, Nick’s debut EP “Everything Is Changing” was released, and with it came an unmistakable folk flow intertwined with light and bright pop. The artist embarked on a journey that led him all over the province of Quebec playing in festivals (St-Jerome Folk Fest, International Balloon Festival of St-Jean-Sur-Richelieu), opening for various artists to promote his release and to further develop his craft.
Eager to broaden his horizons and to reach a new crowd, the songwriter went to California in order to write new songs, perform at NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) and to record with Todd Stopera (Butch Walker, Brian Fallon, Weezer, Fall Out Boy). Back in his hometown of Montreal, Nick meet record producer Andre Papanicolaou (Vincent Vallieres, Patrice Michaud) with whom he started working on demos. The duo who clearly hit it off, took all the time needed to develop the singer-songwriter’s own sound and together, they managed to turn these demos into what became the backbone of a prolific collaboration.
This coming year, in addition to recording his 2nd EP, the songwriter will be releasing what he believes to be the best 4 singles produced by Todd and Andre. Somehow all the hard work and hours put in over the last four years, spent touring and writing are finally paying off, as everything is starting to fall into place for Nick Patterson.
